Ira McIntosh
Ira McIntosh is the proud owner of an uncontainable appetite for music making and an immense enthusiasm for encouraging other people to participate in that music.
Ira was born and raised in Delaware County, where many generations of both of his parents’ ancestors have lived. A child of a Catskill Mountain woodsman and a folklorist/ethnomusicologist, Ira has spent his life simmering in good old-time heritage. He is an eclectic yarn-spinner and musician who feels at home with any stringed instrument. Ira’s gleeful reverence for the world around us is infectious. The Performer consistently receives stellar evaluations from schoolteachers and administrators for his highly informative and engaging programs. In addition to performing solo, Ira sometimes teams up with his wife, “Story Laurie” to present top-notch programs at schools throughout New York State. Solo or as a duo, Ira & Laurie offer a wonderful variety of performances & residencies that address Common Core curricula, helping teachers meet NYS Learning Standards in the Sciences, Arts, History & English Language Arts! |
